I Can See Your Halo

In the beginning of March I flew home to California to help my sister move her life to Utah. After saying goodbye to close friends, we packed up everything in her 4runner and set off. I had prepared a six hour long playlist including all of our favorite songs. We stopped over night in Vegas (courtesy of my husband), where we spent two hours getting ready only to walk on the strip for about an hour. It was cold and rainy and there was construction all over the place. Once we hit up Fat Tuesdays for their amazing alcoholic slushies, we rushed back to our hotel, threw on our pajamas and grabbed some dinner to-go. We spent the rest of the night eating food, watching Friends reruns and watching people on the strip from our hotel room. Sometimes low-key Vegas is the best. We were up the next morning and on the road. Continuing listening to our epic playlist, we made our way through rural Utah belting out “Bleeding Love” and “No Air”, until we were forced to turn down the music and pay attention to the very slick and sleety road. After a very long six and a half hours, we finally made it to Salt Lake City.

We spent the rest of the weekend setting up her room. We took a few hilarious trips to IKEA where we thought we could fit a queen sized mattress in the back of her 4runner by ourselves. After watching us struggle, a couple of good samaritans stopped to help us shove the obviously too-large mattress in the bed of her truck. We could not stop laughing the entire way home as we were both all the way forward in our seats, driving 55 mph on the freeway. When we got back to the house we learned there was no way the mattress would’ve flown out of the bed as it was shoved so hard in there, it took twenty minutes of maneuvering to get the damn thing out. Lesson learned: don't buy large items at IKEA without the help of a strong man.

Having her here has truly been a godsend. There has been a lot going on in the Nelson household that I will share later... But it's been fun having my other half back in my life every day again.
