New Year's Resolutions
I'm typically not one for resolutions, but this year I am going to give it a try. I've found myself becoming complacent over the last five months since our wedding. After spending a year planning and making lists and saving money, it was nice to just relax for awhile. But now it's time to get myself back on track, mentally and physically, and what better time to start anew than the first of the year. I've set three goals that I am going to work hard(er) on this year:
1. Plan a monthly budget
I was much better at this during wedding saving season, but I have completely given up since August. My favorite website to use is mint.com and I plan on utilizing their helpful site once again.
2. Keep the house clean & organized
I'm not terrible at keeping the house clean but there are times when I'm pretty lazy about it. Especially during fall when Justin and I are working 13 hour days every weekend. I tend let myself slide on doing dishes and laundry. I created a daily + weekly cleaning checklist many months ago that will help keep my cleaning duties on track.
3. Adapt a healthier lifestyle
Kind of a broad resolution but it is the most important to me. I need to work on being healthier mentally + physically. It's been weighing on my mind lately that if we want to start a family in a couple years, I need to start preparing my body now. I'm not planning on doing any drastic like a complete dietary overhaul and signing up for kickboxing classes 4x a week because I will give up on that in a month. I'm interested in some easier steps that will give me a better chance in succeeding...
read more books, watch less tv
add more veggies + whole grains to my diet
eat less sweets (my hardest goal, no doubt)
work out a realistic exercise plan
plan out meals for each week
drink more water !
I know there will be times when I slip up on one or all of these and I'm okay with that. As long as I'm giving my resolutions a real shot, I'll be happy. Good luck to you all in the new year!
