After we docked, we walked around the wharf holding hands and talking. We reached a somewhat secluded boat dock and headed out onto it, watching the boats go by and flirting. With his arms around me he said "I have a question for you." I turned around as he let go of me to find him on one knee with the most breathtaking diamond I've ever seen. He said simply and tenderly, "Will you marry me?" After the initial shock wore off, it took me about five seconds to say "YES!" and he slid the ring the ring on my finger. I giggled and cried and probably said "really?" ten times. We held each other for awhile and exchanged several words of love.
We took turns calling our parents and telling them the good news. Then we headed back to the hotel and shared some celebratory margaritas. I can confidently say that the most important decision of my life ended up being the easiest.
